What lighting did you use for this? Natural light/soft box/light stand?

I might not give you a critic or any kind of proper comment, only one thing: I just found my image of Lily Potter, a quite close one. :)

Since you asked for critique..... Too bright, too sharp and too much contrast for a Vermeer. Your "front light" on the left side is so strong it's racking the skin and pushing up slight bumps that a renaissance effect would blend. Too red in the shadow of the cheek against the yellow/gold tones in the highlight. Gold is the way to go. Pink, less so. Same on the lips. The most successful part is the blouse and the sweater. Both meet the ideal of your intention. Lighting and tone on the background is excellent. I understand why you have a defined and visibly sharp background, but it would be interesting to compare against a treatment in which the pattern is moved out of focus slightly by just an f stop.

really stunning lighting!! .. hm i find the background is pretty simple, it looks like it's just done with photoshop i think that's a bit a pity. because you have always so interesting backgrounds. Apart from that I like this idea very mutch and it's as always gorgeous!!
Will you come once to switzerland for a workshop? Would be great :)

I think you've achieved what you tried to do! I had to take a closer look, even look at the category you've listed it under, to be sure it wasn't a painting or digital art. Bravo!

How about using a large format camera and perhaps a soft focus lens. It is much more complicated, slower and more expensive, but it is a whole new world and, IMHO, offers a lot of fun and possibilities for an enthusiastic photographer? ;)

This blurs the line between CGI and photography. Most times, it is the CGI art trying to look photographic.
If this is indeed a photograph, then it is one of the most CGI like pictures i have ever seen to date ( that a compliment )

Fantastic lighting, and thanks for sharing !

Oh, very nice! Perhaps a second light for the dark side of the face, but only slightly to reduce the contrast between light and dark? It feels too cold on that side.

it looks as if she'd have different eye-colours!
Is that the lighting or is it by nature?
However (and I am not educated to judge whether this is Vermeer-like or not)... the lighting here is...totally wonderful.
the way it makes her hair shine so warmly and soft....and how it caresses her lovely face!
Just totally beautiful!
