A young stranger: Quebec Rainbow gathering 2009:

Critiques

:iconmysticbubblesz:
I've had a subscription for a month, but this is the first deviation that has inspired me to write my first dA critique ever. The centering of the subject is perfect, enhancing the power that her expression holds. The photographer captured a moment in time with the expression on this little gypsy's face- what was she thinking when she looked at the photographer?

It's like she's staring out of the screen, right at you, from a different world and way of life. The dirt on her face, hands and clothes, with her hair bouncing freely, contribute to the unique mood of this photograph. The way she's holding the drum, arching her back, makes her appear to be from a time that we will never be able to understand, and she's proud of it. She looks back at you as if she's just as curious about you as you are about her. The fact that the background looks like a forest only enhances the romantic atmosphere.

Of course, I will never know what she was really thinking or what her life is really like, but the richness of this photo opens up a world of intriguing possibilities. Congratulations to the photographer for capturing this "young stranger" and sharing her mystery with us.

I am (always) afraid of commenting kid's portraits because it is one of the most difficult themes in Fine Art Photography, in my most humble opinion.

I looked at this capture a first time and then again ... and again.
Each time time I looked at it I was even more amazed than before.

:iconbenoitpaille: succeeded in capturing the naivety of a child by its corporal pose and the innocence that "glows" from the facial expression being the eyes the central focus of it all.

It seems like a very young gypsy by the look, the clothes and by what is shown "around" the child framing in a master way the whole.

It is amazing in every aspect ... although this is just my opinion !

Thanks for sharing !!!

It's not in the camera, but the guy wielding it.

I learned not to fear the opinions and beliefs of others but to recognize them as honest, heartfelt, different, to be respected, and wrong.

I have to say, I really really love this collection of photos. Each one just draws me into the subject of the photo and I can't help but stare at it for longer than I usually would. Very impressive!
