I'm a west coast American who lived in the Trois-Rivieres region (St-Etienne-des-Gres) for most of my life (27 yrs there). I am a Devabulator widget user and it's set on random evry 30 secs. You can imagine my surprise when I saw la rue des Forges pop up. Seeing my young adult stomping grounds unexpectedly was awesome.
I've read the comments you and others posted. Now, I am by no means a "connaiseur" of the photographic arts. I know squadouche about lighting, perspective, angles and all that good stuff, I just like to look at the pretty pictures. Your not so good (paraphrasing) picture has stirred up more emotions than any other picture I've seen on Dev in the 6 or so months I've been using it. Your picture worked. Granted there is a history here, but it works.

"c'est de la marde cette photo la ... deviantart c'est une bande de ptit et petite conne de 15 ans qui fav et watche n'importequoi" Whether you like it or not, you don't have full control over the appreciation others will have of your art. And that's the cool of it, people will feel it differently. You can't tell if others are faving your art because they like it or just because they are favs addicts. For example, I personally don't like this photo, I like the place, yes, but it doesn't "get me", I don't feel anything while looking at it. But that's just me. Nevertheless, I know that sometimes you don't need a perfect picture/song/whatever to let your inner self fly, and that's why I respect the art and the artist.
