Il était une fois, au début du XXIe siècle, un monde où la pâte à papier n'avait jamais été inventée. Les gens lisaient, sur des écrans, les articles, les livres et regardaient les photos. C'était bien mais, parfois, l'écran tombait en panne, les piles s'usaient, les reflets empêchaient de bien lire, etc... Et puis, deux étudiants californiens, Bill et Paul, ont inventé, dans un garage de la Silicon Valley, la pâte à papier. Quelques mois plus tard, est arrivé sur le marché un objet extraordinaire. On pouvait le feuilleter, le lire debout, aux toilettes dans le métro, sur une plage, le regarder en plein soleil,...le sentir, le toucher... c'était l'invention du livre. Et c'était le progrès, il venait de naître.
